Visas for Visiting Canada

Canada welcomes over 35 million visitors a year. All visitors to Canada must:

• have a valid travel document, such as a passport
• be in good health
• convince an immigration officer that you have ties, such as a job, home and family, that will take you back to your country of origin
• convince an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit and

Temporary Resident Visas
Depending on where you or from and the purpose of your trip, you may be required to obtain temporary resident visa prior to entering Canada.

Transit Visas
Citizens from certain countries will require a transit visa when traveling through Canada.

Citizens of certain countries are exempt from requiring a visa for entry.
